Canyoning Adventure
Adventure Experience Canyoning is managed by Toscana Adventure Team, it is about 90 minutes by car from Volterra. It is the descent of streams, more or less sunken, with or without water, wearing an insulated suit, sneakers with a sculpted sole, helmet and harness. Canyoning experience includes:
March, the simple walk in nature in the mountains between woods and streams.
Jump, you can jump from minimum heights to important heights in natural pools formed by the stream itself.
Chute, you can slide along “tobbogan” (natural slides) following the natural path of the water.
Descent with rope, you overcome jumps and waterfalls with the help of rope and harness.
Equipment provided, changes + + helmet help buoyancy vest (if required) + harness + descender and safety longes + common material.
What to bring, a polyester shirt, swimsuit, towel, sneakers to get into the water and socks to wet, no rings on your hands. Those who wear glasses will have to make sure to fix them to the head to avoid losing them, those who use contact lenses, preferably disposable with a spare pair.
A good and normal state of health is required, knowing how to swim or with a life vest, absence of fear of water, absence of heart diseases not compatible with physical effort, desire to have fun.

Volterra Museums
Volterra Card is a special ticket that includes entry to the most important museums in the whole city. You can visit the Etruscan Museum, the Municipal Art Gallery, the Alabaster Ecomuseum, the Palazzo dei Priori, the Etruscan Acropolis, the Roman Cistern and the Roman Theater. You will discover:
Etruscan Museum, born in 1761, it is one of the oldest public museums in Europe. Inside there are many artifacts that tell the high level that reached from the seventh century BC. the extraordinary Etruscan civilization, among which we mention the Aviletite stele, the Shadow of the Evening and a collection of over 600 wonderful cinerary ulne.
Municipal Art Gallery, opened in September 1905, it is a destination of great interest in the academic world and for art lovers. Inside stands the Deposition by Rosso Fiorentino, a great work made famous by Gabriele D’Annunzio in his novel “Maybe yes, maybe no”.
Alabaster Ecomuseum, tells the ancient Volterra tradition of working this stone. It is an environmental museum that leads the visitor from the stone quarry to its processing and marketing.
Palazzo dei Priori, is the oldest municipal building in Tuscany, its construction dates back to 1208. Outside, terracotta and coats of arms stand out, affixed in memory of the Commissioners who ruled the city, the lions, symbol of the dominion of Florence and between the windows on the ground floor, engraved in the tuff, the ancient currency of the city “Canna Volterrana”. Inside you can admire the magnificent frescoes of the Sala del Gran Consiglio, the painting “The Marriage of Cana” by Donato Mascagni and a Crucifix and saints by Pier Francesco Fiorentino. You can get to the top of the tower.
Etruscan Acropolis, is a monumental complex that rises in the highest part of the city. Today only the foundations remain, in Etruscan times there were two majestic Temples, both facing the sea, surrounded by multiple pools and streams. The archaeological finds still demonstrate today the perfection and the revealed spiritual conception of the Etruscan civilization.
Roman Cistern, is an imposing work carried out in Roman times in the top of the mountain of the city, dug into the earth, 21 meters long, 14 wide and 10 deep. The cistern collected rainwater that flowed through a series of pipes placed on the walls.
Roman Theater, is a majestic monumental complex dated 13 AD. Its construction was strongly desired and financed by the rich Etruscan family of the Caecina, the last dynasty of King of Volterra before the Roman siege. The extraordinary remains of these ancient buildings can all be visited from the inside.

Restaurant
Our Life Bistro Restaurant is located a few meters from all the apartments. The kitchen is 100% vegan, with organic and short chain products. The main hall has a transparent crystal floor with extraordinary Etruscan, Roman and medieval archaeological finds.
Buffet breakfast, from 9 am to 11 am composed by a large assortment of sweet and savory pastries, complete coffee service, vegetable milks, juices and fruit extracts, assorted breads, fruit jams.
Dinner a la carte menù, from 6 pm to 9 pm composed by a first course, a main course and a dessert, with still or sparkling water included. Wines are excluded, you can choose from our wine list, with both glass and bottle solutions.
Optional lunch, from 12am to 3pm it is possible to have lunch at our Life Bistrot restaurant. From April to October there is a buffet service with “food by weight” that allows you to compose your own dish with multiple recipes, served at a single price per hectogram. Apartments
Our apartments are all based just a few meters from our reception and our vegan restaurant. They are independent, all have a double bedroom, kitchen with living room, bathroom with shower, wi-fi internet connection, TV and heating.
Check-in from 3 pm onwards, at our archaeological reception in Via Porta all’Arco n. 13, in the ancient historic center of Volterra.
Check-out before 11 am, if we have no reservations on the same day we can extend for a few hours.
Arrival by car we advise you to arrive in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, where you can leave your car at the “La Dogana” car park. Our reception is just 50 meters walk from the parking lot.
